Woman accuses former employer of disability discrimination 2018

No individual should have to endure being subjected to unjust treatment in the workplace due to a medical disability. Although there are laws in place that protect individuals in Florida and elsewhere against such treatment, these incidents unfortunately continue to occur. A woman in another state has recently filed a lawsuit against her former employer, accusing the company of disability discrimination.

According to reports, the incident began when the woman was fired from her place of employment after she requested to take intermittent leave from work due to a medical condition. She requested the leave after she began to suffer a recurrence of symptoms of an inner ear disorder known as Meniere's disease. However, she asserts she was denied reasonable accommodation and was fired without a written statement providing a reason for her termination.

The woman has since received backing from a human rights panel and has filed a disability discrimination lawsuit against the company. She is reportedly seeking to recover lost wages and ensure that the necessary civil rights training is provided to employees of the company to prevent others from suffering such treatment in the future. While the Americans with Disabilities Act is in place to protect individuals against unlawful discrimination, those who experience it may need guidance on how to go about safeguarding their legal rights.

Those who experience unlawful treatment at work due to disability discrimination could benefit from seeking guidance from someone with experience in the area. An attorney can examine the situation and provide a client with advise on how best to proceed. By thoroughly evaluating the situation, an attorney can assist a client in Florida in pursuing the full amount of compensation deserved through a claim against the party or parties deemed responsible.
