Age discrimination lawsuit filed against IBM

When it comes to advancing one's career in the field of technology, having the necessary skill and experience can be essential. Unfortunately, individuals in Florida may find that these qualifications might not always be enough, as other factors could play a part in the process. IBM is reportedly facing a discrimination lawsuit after allegations surfaced claiming the company subjected a multitude of employees to unjust treatment based on their age.

Recent reports indicate that IBM has released as many as 20,000 employees over the age of 40 over the past six years. According to the lawsuit, the company subjected many of these employees to unfair conditions and failed to provide them with information about age bias. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of three individuals, each of whom are reportedly over the age of 55, after they were allegedly laid off for unlawful reasons.

The lawsuit asserts that this is the result of an attempt to cut down on expenses as the company works to rebrand its image. The company has also been accused of firing older employees and attempting to hire them back on as contractors with lesser wages. However, IBM reportedly denies subjected employees to such treatment and claims that any changes made to its employee base are centered around the expertise of each individual.

Individuals who encounter age discrimination at work may face a variety of consequences that could have a substantial impact on their futures. Those who feel they have been subjected to unlawful treatment could choose to speak with an attorney for advice on their available legal avenues. An attorney in Florida can provide a client with assistance in protecting his or her legal rights and pursuing the full amount of compensation to which he or she is entitled to receive.
